Stay in Bangkok(1)

A month-long stay in Bangkok with good value for money

We decided to live in Bangkok for a month to experience an international school for our children, and we looked into accommodations nearby along with choosing an international school.

Find a good place to stay

First, I decided on Anglo Singapore International School in downtown Bangkok and decided to find accommodation nearby. The accommodation had to be close to the school, but most importantly, transportation and convenience were my top priorities. After much deliberation, I decided on Sukhumvit 39 in the center of Bangkok and searched the area thoroughly.

DDproperty

Let’s try using an app called DDproperty. I used this app a lot when I was looking for a house to live in Bangkok for a few months. When I moved from a condo to a townhouse, I used this app to meet a manager and successfully sign a contract. I’ll leave that story for the next post.

Cost-effectiveness

There are many really fancy and nice accommodations around here. The rooms are spacious and have the latest interiors and furniture… There are many hotels, condos, and townhouses, but what we consider important is the price. Since there were two children and one man staying, the size of the room was not that important. First, cost-effectiveness, and second, cost-effectiveness. So we decided on Siamese 39. Although it was a studio, there were many convenient features. In particular, the fact that there was a swimming pool inside the accommodation was very attractive.

The price has gone up a lot now, but back in the Covid19, you could stay for a month for around 20,000 baht. Anyway, I stayed there for a month and went swimming almost every day. A month-long stay in Bangkok with good value for money.

Accommodation amenities and transportation

Living with children requires good physical strength, so I worked out hard every day at the gym right next door.

However, there were some drawbacks.

Rush hour

Walking to school with elementary school children was not suitable for Bangkok traffic, which is almost as clogged as a parking lot during rush hour.

However, there is a lot of traffic only during rush hour, and during normal times, the traffic is not this bad. Later, I bought a car and didn’t feel any inconvenience, but it would be nice to have a place that provides tuk-tuk transportation for children on their way to and from school. Shower filter

Shower filters are a must in Bangkok

Also, the tap water in Bangkok is almost like green water. It’s the same everywhere in Bangkok, not just here. So, I hope you bring a shower filter.

Other than the fact that the room was small and the walking distance was limited, overall it was a satisfactory accommodation.

Tuk-tuk in Thailand

There is a tuk-tuk operating within the accommodation.

But this was also covered by the tuk-tuk provided by the accommodation. It could take you to the subway station and department store at set times and also pick you up. This made it very convenient to move around with the kids.

I used this tuk-tuk a lot while living in Bangkok for a month. It was very convenient to use when going to the subway or going out to a department store.

The school was also a very satisfactory curriculum, and teachers and people related to the school treated us kindly, so we could have a very pleasant and enjoyable school life.

The school my children attended was Anglo Singapore International School, Campus 31, located in Sukhumvit 31 (there is a separate Campus 64).

From now on, I’ll tell you about where I went to play with the kids on our days off. See you in the next post.
